Management Occupations drive social media-related hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top social media-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 29% quarter-on-quarter. Business and Financial Operations Occupations came in second with a share of 9% in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 2% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social media roles include Arts, Design, Entertainment, Sports, and Media Occupations with a 7% share in Q1 2023, Sales and Related Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 34% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Estee Lauder, Spectra Food Services & Hospitality, Coty, Compagnie Financiere Richemont, and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Together they accounted for a combined share of 34% of all social media-related new jobs in the consumer industry.
Estee Lauder posted 880 social media-related new jobs in Q1 2023, Spectra Food Services & Hospitality 850 jobs, Coty 681 jobs, Compagnie Financiere Richemont 409 jobs, and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton 270 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 56.54% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023
The largest share of social media-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 56.54% followed by Germany (5.41%) and the UK (5.22%). The share represented by the US was nine percentage points higher than the 47.42% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
