The top five companies accounted for 30% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that LG filed the most robotics patents within the consumer industry in Q1 2024. The company filed 30 robotics-related patents in the quarter, compared with 48 in the previous quarter. It was followed by iRobot with 20 robotics patent filings, Robert Bosch Stiftung (17 filings), and Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai (15 filings) in Q1 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 34% share of total patent filings
The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 34%, followed by China (17%) and Japan (4%). The share represented by the US was 11% higher than the 24% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
